Do you want to upgrade to Windows 7? Do you have an existing PC? Are you running Windows XP or Vista Currently?
With Windows 7 coming out for Consumers October 22, many people will want to upgrade their current PCs and Laptops. Before you go out and spend your hard earned money on a new PC or laptop, you should first see if you can upgrade your current PC or Laptop to Windows 7. How do you know if you can? I can assure that Retailers and Hardware vendors are going to point you into buying new, but before you do, it is worth the effort to see if you can just “upgrade”. What will it take to upgrade?
If you have a PC or Laptop that is around two years old, it is most probably able to run Windows 7 just fine. Even older PCs can, but need a little more considerations.
If you are currently running any version of Vista, the upgrade is a little easier and safer since we can put it right over the top. This means all your programs and settings and files that you have already on there will still be there afterwards.
If you are currently running Windows XP, then the PC or Laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7, but it has to be done as a completely new install. This means that you will have to totally re-install all your programs from before. Sounds daunting, but it can be done. Also your files and settings can be saved so when you bring it back up in Windows 7, you can move them back.
What will it cost?
Upgrade Price Full Install Price Windows 7 as of 10/2009 Price Windows 7 as of 10/2009 Price Home Premium $119.99 Home Premium $199.99 *Recommended Home Professional $199.99 Professional $299.99 Ultimate $219.99 Ultimate $319.99 Knowing the cost of the upgrade will help you determine what you want to do.
A new PC or laptop is certainly quite a lot more expensive.
Keep in mind these minimum Hardware requirements – this is official Microsoft,
although I recommend 2 gigs of RAM (cheap to upgrade), and quite a bit more of free Hard Drive Space than listed here:
- 1 GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
- 1 GB of RAM (32-bit); 2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit); 20 GB of available disk space (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
I would love to help you upgrade your computer.
I am charging a great price – Flat labor fee: Upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista - $100,
if you have XP and we can make it work $135 – Add the cost of Windows 7 Home Premium at around $120 not including tax,
and for approximately $220 to $235, you could have a better, faster, more enjoyable Computer Experience.Call me at 616-425-8893 for free consultation.
